This site teaches children how to count by 10 (.mp3) Song plays the words of the song with text of the vocals below the virtual player, scroll page down if needed to see the last words of the song. Click "play" when the site loads. Not sure why there is no Word Wrap or why the link appears at the bottom of the wiki screen on this post, maybe a screen resolution prob on my end.

This site would be useful to use music to teach spelling rules.

It contains a midi file of the song used to teach the lesson and you can download a music file of children singing the song in the lesson to use as a model for the class.

CPUz - This small but powerful app helps you get important information about your "box" very quickly. It would help you identify system properties to be sure you have the minimum requirements to run specific software applications or operating systems on existing or donated computer equipment. It is freeware. Here is the Wikipedia description of the proggie. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPU-Z

Key Finder 2.0.1- This proggie will pull Microsoft OS and Microsoft Office keys from your registry for installed software. It can help you identify keys in case you need them for system restore and your case sticker or other docs are misplaced or unreadable.

Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack - Gates an the boys describe it best....From Microsoft: Note: Users of the Microsoft Office XP and 2003 programs Word, Excel, or PowerPoint should first install all High-Priority updates from Microsoft Update before downloading the Compatibility Pack.

By installing the Compatibility Pack in addition to Microsoft Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003, you will be able open, edit, and save files using the file formats new to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007. The Compatibility Pack can also be used in conjunction with the Microsoft Office Word Viewer 2003, Excel Viewer 2003, and PowerPoint Viewer 2003 to view files saved in these new formats.

AVG Antivirus - Free antivirus software and updates.

UltraVnc - Free virtual network connection software. The homepage describes it best. "UltraVNC is a powerful, easy to use and free software that can display the screen of another computer (via internet or network) on your own screen. The program allows you to use your mouse and keyboard to control the other PC remotely. It means that you can work on a remote computer, as if you were sitting in front of it, right from your current location. If you provide computer support, you can quickly access your customer's computers from anywhere in the world and resolve helpdesk issues remotely ! With addons like SingleClick your customers don't even have to pre-install software or execute complex procedures to get remote helpdesk support."

I don't recommend this for beginners. You need to know what a LAN and WAN IP address are and how to determine yours to make this program work. It's awesome when you get it working. I have used this at home on MS XP boxes on the LAN and the WAN from Florida when I was on vacation a couple of years ago and it worked great! I'm not sure how well it works on Vista boxes.

This is the download link for the proggie. http://www.uvnc.com/

FYI your Wan side IP can be found by clicking http://www.whatismyip.com

Your Lan side IP on a Windows box is "Start", "Run", type CMD in the text box and hit "enter" key. Type "ipconfig" and hit enter. Look for the 192.168.xx.xx that would be your Lan side IP. Remember that your Lan side IP address will change if you use a DHCP server instead of static IPs. Most of us would have DHCP assigned IPs.

I have used all of these programs at different times and they are effective. Please install software at your own risk. If you aren't sure of what you are doing, have a professional install software for you. Even if you are computer literate, it never hurts to have a "restore" point on MS XP and Vista boxes before you install so you can roll it back if there is a problem.

Windows Disk Degragmenter

What it does - Microsoft says...Fragmentation makes your hard disk do extra work that can slow down your computer. Disk Defragmenter rearranges fragmented data so your hard disk can work more efficiently. Disk Defragmenter runs on a schedule, but you can also defragment your hard disk manually.

To start defrag on an XP box, click Start, then Run, then type dfrg.msc and choose the c: drive. Windows is installed by default on the c drive.

School House Rock – Preamble - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_TXJRZ4CFc

Hey, do you know about the U.S.A.?

Do you know about the government?

Can you tell me about the Constitution?

Hey, learn about the U.S.A.

In 1787 I'm told

Our founding fathers did agree

To write a list of principles

For keepin' people free.

The U.S.A. was just startin' out.

A whole brand-new country.

And so our people spelled it out

The things that we should be.

And they put those principles down on

paper and called it the Constitution, and

it's been helping us run our country ever

since then. The first part of the

Constitution is called the preamble and tells

what those founding fathers set out to do.

We the people

In order to form a more perfect union,

Establish justice, insure domestic tranquility,

Provide for the common defense,

Promote the general welfare and

Secure the blessings of liberty

To ourselves and our posterity

Do ordain and establish this Constitution

for the United States of America.

In 1787 I'm told

Our founding fathers all sat down

And wrote a list of principles

That's known the world around.

The U.S.A. was just starting out

A whole brand-new country.

And so our people spelled it out

They wanted a land of liberty.

And the preamble goes like this:

We the people

In order to form a more perfect union,

Establish justice, insure domestic tranquility,

Provide for the common defense,

Promote the general welfare and

Secure the blessings of liberty

To ourselves and our posterity,

Do ordain and establish this Constitution

for the United States of America.

For the United States of America...
